Stone & Sage founder's first home Pilates practice
Our story

It started with one mat.

And the quiet realization that the foundation under us mattered more than we thought.

01

The mats we kept replacing.

It started with frustration. Every Pilates mat we tried fell into one of three categories: too thin to protect our knees, too cheap to last a year, or too expensive to feel like a daily object.

The Amazon ones flaked within months. The studio brands cost as much as a reformer class. The ones that looked beautiful felt like rubber sheets the moment we rolled them out.

We kept buying. Kept replacing. Kept being slightly disappointed.

02

So we built our own.

The brief was simple: a Pilates mat we'd actually want to keep.

We obsessed over the small things. The density of the foam, so it would protect joints without sinking under balance work. The texture, so it would grip hardwood and tile without slipping. The dimensions, so a tall body could fully stretch out.

And the quiet details no one talks about: how the edges feel under bare feet, how it rolls up without folding awkwardly, how it looks when it's left out in a living room.

03

Built for the long practice.

We don't believe a Pilates mat should be replaced every year. We don't believe it should look like gym equipment. And we don't believe it should match a trend that will be gone by next season.

We believe the things you use every day — the foundation under your morning routine, the surface where you breathe and stretch and start — deserve more thought than the average fitness accessory gets.

Stone & Sage is built around that idea. Slow. Considered. Made to last for years.

What we believe

The principles that shape everything we make.

Quiet over loud

No bright logos. No fitness aesthetics. The objects we make are designed to disappear into your home — and reappear under you when you need them.

Years, not seasons

We make products to last. Every material, every detail is chosen so you'll still be using your mat in three, five, ten years.

For her practice

We build for the women who show up every morning. Stone & Sage exists to support that practice — not to perform it.

Honest pricing

No inflated retail. No constant discount theatre. Just a fair price for premium materials, backed by a 3-year warranty.

A note
"We didn't set out to build a wellness brand. We set out to make one good mat — the kind we'd want to keep using for years. The rest grew slowly from there."
